These risk and protective factors have been shown to predict the likelihood of academic success, school dropout, substance abuse, violence, and delinquency among youth. As the substance abuse prevention field has evolved, the CCYS has been modified to measure additional substance abuse and other problem behavior variables to provide prevention professionals in Louisiana with important information for understanding their communities.
